Your Key Responsibilities

  • Delegated Decision Making: Exercise formal delegated authority to process and finalise complex RTI applications, ensuring all decisions are legally robust and defensible.

  • System Leadership: Support the Manager in designing and maintaining best-practice policies and procedures that align with the broader Queensland Public Service framework.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary interface with regulatory bodies (such as the OIC) to manage departmental obligations.
  • Reporting & Governance: Lead the coordination of RTI performance reporting and ensure the department meets all statutory reporting obligations with high accuracy.
  • Privacy Support: Assist with complex privacy complaints and provide expert guidance on Information Privacy matters.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Public Sector Experience: Prior experience at an AO6 or AO7 level within a Queensland Government RTI unit is highly desirable.
  • High-Level Writing: Ability to draft complex statements of reasons and executive briefings that require minimal oversight.
  • Stakeholder Management: Confidence in negotiating with and advising senior departmental officials and Ministerial staff.
